The Oregon Parks Association (OPA) is a great resource to keep you up to date on the latest trends and innovations in the Parks field. One of the founding reasons for the OPA was to provide members with the opportunity to contact other professionals who are working through the same challnges we all face in the natural resource recreation field.
Technical resource guidance
Through your OPA membership contacts, you can gain access to facility manuals, designs and plans for any type of facility you may be planning or working on.
OPA maintains a strong voice in the Oregon State Legislature
OPA has always been a well-respected advocate for regional parks programs in the Oregon legislature. As a member of OPA your organization will have a stronger voice on issues, which directly impact your operations.
Close connections with the Oregon State Marine Board
OPA works closely with the Oregon State Marine Board on boating related issues around the state. The Marine Board’s Boating Facilities Program Manager attends OPA Board meetings and keeps members up to date on the latest water based recreation trends including: facility designs, water safety, grants and funding issues.
Representation in the Oregon State Parks County Opportunity Grant Program
OPA appoints one of the members of the Grant Evaluation Committee for the Oregon State Parks County Opportunity Grant Program. This program allocates funds for County park facility development and improvements.
Strong alliance with the Association of Oregon Counties (AOC)
OPA is the recognized voice for parks and recreation related issues that effect the AOC. OPA’s seat on AOC committees and subcommittees relating to parks issues gives your organization another outlet to state your concerns and generate support for your program.
Campground and park marketing
OPA can help expand your marketing and promotional ability by including your facilities in the OPA Campground Guide, the OPA internet web site and the OPA brochure and information packet.
